Il Paradisino is a place linked to the beginnings of monastic life in Vallombosa when it was the hermitage of monks who were particularly eager for solitude and intimacy with God. Today it is an educational center for students of Forestry Sciences of the University of Florence.

The Vallombrosan hermits retreated to this locality who, although depending on the monastery, lived in complete solitude in some cells (already existing in the 11th century) scattered all around the rocky spur dominating the Abbey, and partly built with branches and fronds and partly dug naturally in the rock.
Subsequently 44 cells were built, closed by a walled enclosure, and a small church was built in the center, consecrated in 1277.
In 1845 a single building was built in place of the existing cells, used as a hotel. A plaque commemorates the stay at the Paradisino of the English poet Milton, author of the "Earthly Paradise".
The building currently houses the headquarters of the summer exercises for students of the degree course in forestry at the University of Florence.
In front of the Paradisino there is the homonymous spring.
