Bike Touring Highlight
The peat from the Teufelsmoor was brought to Bremen via Bremen's Kleine Wümme and Wümme with barges, and the barges were unloaded at the peat harbor.
Today, the historic Porfkähne start in the peat harbor for trips through the Bremen Blockland. Of course you can explore the old waterways individually with the canoe, from the peat harbor.
To be honest, what would the peat harbor be without Port Piet? In this beer garden we have already spent many a cozy summer evening. But you can also taste an ice cream from the ice paradise Butzke at the water edge at the peat barges.
There is also a rental of canoes and kayaks.
In the past, you could drive from Torhafen to New Helgoland near Worpswede. Unfortunately, this is no longer possible today.
With the peat barges, the peat from the villages in the Teufelsmoor was formerly transported to Bremen.
A peat boat ride is part of a visit to Bremen for me.
Then let the day end comfortably at Port Piet.
