The Gutenberg monument is located on Lugeck in Vienna's 1st district, Innere Stadt.

The memorial was erected for Johannes Gutenberg (inventor of printing with movable letters) after the facade of the Regensburg court was set back. The reason for this was the new building for the Orendi department store.

The Gutenberg memorial was created by Hans Bitterlich, the base with inscriptions and reliefs by Max Fabiani and unveiled on December 17, 1900. The so-called lettering printer coat of arms is located on the back of the base.

Since 1900, the monument to Johannes Gutenberg by Hans Bitterlich (on a pedestal by Max Fabiani) has stood on the Lugeck - a small square in Vienna's 1st district of Innere Stadt. The square is also accessed from Wollzeile by a characteristic old Viennese through-house. de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lugeck
The Wilhelminian-style house with the two turrets is considered one of the most beautiful houses in Vienna's old town.

Gutenberg Monument (1, Lugeck), bronze statue by Hans Bitterlich (base [with inscriptions and reliefs] by Max Fabiani).

Partly standing in place of the front of the old Regensburg court, the Gutenberg monument, created by Hans Bitterlich and unveiled on December 17, 1900, rises on a relief-decorated base made of Untersberg marble, with architecture by Max Fabiani. On the back of the base is the so-called letterpress coat of arms.

Erected for Johannes Gutenberg after the facade was set back on the occasion of the new building for the Orendi department store.
