The Catholic pilgrimage church of Our Lady in the Walnut Tree dates back to a chapel of grace first mentioned in 1328 and was already a popular pilgrimage destination in the late Middle Ages. The church was destroyed in the Second World War and was rebuilt in its current form between 1946 and 1958. Legend has it that Mary appeared to a shepherd in a walnut tree.

You have never seen a church with such a name: The pilgrimage church of Our Lady in the Walnut Tree really is called that. The church was first mentioned in 1328 as a chapel, was last destroyed in the Second World War and then rebuilt.
