Here once stood the sports monument at the 1000m mark of the Olympic rowing course of 1936, where the monument has been there since 1898. The monument, which consisted mainly of boulders of the Berlin-Warschauer-Urstromtals and bronze plates of the donor clubs from all over Germany, was eliminated in 1973 by the GDR regime. Some slabs and boulders have been preserved and can today be seen in the water sports museum in Berlin-Grünau. See also: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sportdenkmal_Berlin-Grünau.
