There is a railroad hidden in the woods. If you wait for the train, it will never come.

An old railway line, disused for years, runs right through Hoge Kempen National Park. The railway bed, once constructed to transport coal from the mining region, now stands as a silent witness to Limburg's industrial past. Along the abandoned tracks and old bridges, nature has slowly reclaimed the land: trees grow where trains once thundered, and plants and insects nestle on the gravel stones. Today, the railway line is a unique walking and cycling route that connects history and nature, offering visitors a unique glimpse into the contrast between human heritage and natural splendor.
