The parish village of Poppenlauer is a district of the Maßbach market in the Lower Franconian district of Bad Kissingen.

The center of the town is a small square around the “linden tree” with two churches.
The Protestant “Church of the Resurrection”, a neo-Romanesque building from 1836, was redesigned inside in 1961 by Olaf Gulbransson. The Munich church painter Rudolf Hünerkopf (1914–2000) created the modern frescoes: the resurrection behind the new altar, scenes from the history of salvation on the nave walls.
The Catholic church “Simon and Judah Thaddäus” was built in 1854 in the neo-Gothic style. As part of the redesign in the mid-20th century, Karl Hornung created the monumental crucifixion group above the new altar.
