The Hasselfelde locomotive shed was once the site of the Wernigerode-Westerntor depot.
With the beginning of the summer timetable in 1992, the locomotive operations in Hasselfelde and Benneckenstein were closed as part of the merging of the offices, as the locomotive operations in Wernigerode, Nordhausen and Gernrode were sufficient for operation.
At the beginning of 1998, due to the decline in traffic, the HSB parked some of its locomotives and distributed them to vacant locomotive sheds.
99 7232 came to Hasselfelde and was taken care of by some dedicated railway workers and railway enthusiasts.
This gave rise to the idea of setting up a railway exhibition on site.
Over time, some exhibits were brought together, including a historic snow plow, a couple of roller jacks of various types, and the second boiler from 99 5901.
In the meantime, the HSB has exchanged 99 7232 for 99 7241.
Since the 99 7241 should also be put into operation, it was finally exchanged for 99 7244 in 2006.
In the former common room of the deployment site and partly in the locomotive shed, the exhibits that have been collected up to now have been put on display for the public and can be viewed at the specified opening times.
Railroad fans from near and far are welcome guests in order to maintain the already quite rich historical railway material in the future.
Guided tours through the locomotive shed and the station area are possible under expert guidance, even outside of the opening times.
Since no entrance fees are taken for this, we would be happy to receive a donation.
