The Market Square in Tarnowskie Góry was formed in the second half of the 16th century. Its shape is irregular, trapezoidal, and this is due to the fact that in the city center, the miners, that is, the dialers, conducted mining works and built houses next to the mining shafts, and not according to the established order. Two shafts in the Market Square were turned into city wells, one of which was reconstructed in the 1950s and still adorns the Market Square in its western part.
