The little church was built in the Gothic style in 1403 and dedicated to John the Baptist. The oldest pieces were originally the two figures under the cross, Mary and John, which we now see as replicas after being stolen. The church was a branch church of Altdorf for many years. The theology students at Altdorf University held their first sermons here under the strict gaze of the professors.
