Around 30 km from the actual Schönau monastery, the Pfleghof was the local facility for the protection of the monastery's rights and claims. The building complex burned down in the Thirty Years' War and was rebuilt in 1678. An inscription names the builder, Abbot Franciscus.

Under the Pfleghof there was a wine cellar in which 3,000 buckets of wine could be stored. The sale of the wine to the Swabian imperial cities, monasteries and castles guaranteed Schöntal monastery significant income. In 1725 a house chapel with a tower was added and in 1748 the building was expanded. On the wall stands a guardian angel bearing the Schöntal coat of arms.

In 1802-1803 the monastery was closed and Württemberg acquired Wimmental and the monastery care. In 1828 most of it was demolished. The Catholic priest was given an apartment in a half-timbered house that was still standing.
