A beautiful viewpoint, high above the Danube. The “Wieserkreuz” is located near Kelheim, opposite the “Klösterl” on the summit of a steep rock.

During a hike on the "Weltenburger Höhenweg" from Kelheim to Weltenburg Monastery, you will find the "Wieserkreuz" vantage point. Enjoy the peace and the wide view of the "Weltenburger Enge" and the hermitage Klösterl.

The Wieserkreuz is located above the Weltenburger Enge. From here you have a picturesque view of the Danube Gorge and the surrounding area. The imposing stone cross was made at the beginning of the 20th century by the Wieser family, who at the time owned a small quarry near the cellulose factory there. However, it was only in its place for a few years, after which it was probably pushed into the Danube as a result of vandalism. On the initiative of nature lovers Kelheim a new cross was made and placed on the spot. In the 1990s, the decision was made to renew the Wieserkreuz. Today's lark woodwork was designed by the Kelheim citizen Josef Schinn and has been in its place since 1998. It is a total of 3.70 meters high, its width is 1.90 meters.
