Here lies the "Lusoria Rhenana," a faithful replica of a Roman river warship, which was also used on the Rhine to defend against the Germanic tribes. Can be rented for tours; details can be found on the website of the operating association: lusoriarhenana.de

Currently (November 2020), the boat isn't there. Stored for the winter? For repairs? There was no indication. But even without the boat, it's a beautiful spot right on the lake. Next to the anglers' lodge.

An unforgettable and unique opportunity to experience Roman history up close awaits you in the Southern Palatinate. In the winding arms of the Old Rhine, the Lusoria Rhenana, a faithful reconstruction of a Roman river warship from late antiquity, invites you on an adventurous excursion. Fun and excitement are guaranteed when you try your hand at the oars.In the 4th century AD, these ships, approximately 18 meters long, secured the borders of the Roman Empire on the Rhine and Danube, the so-called "Wet Limes," against the incursions of Germanic barbarian tribes. Built entirely of oak, the military vessels were propelled by 24 Roman legionaries or, alternatively, by a square sail. After scientific testing, the reconstructed Lusoria Rhenana is now embarking on a grand voyage as a historical ambassador. Visitors can now not only glimpse this masterpiece of Roman construction technology, but also experience Roman culture in the truest sense of the word as part of the crew.(tourenplaner-rheinland-pfalz.de/de/punkt/historische-staette/roemerschiff-lusoria-rhenana/3053387/)
