Between the old dike, which runs a few hundred meters inland, and the current dike line, west of Hilgenriedersiel, are the Mandepolder and the Lütetsburger Polder. Both polders were first diked in 1679, a few years later and then again in 1717, the "Blanke Hans" however, the area back. The dike in both polders was not completed until 1772. The polders are used for agriculture. In recent years, a larger area has been set up near Hilgenriedersiel as a landing and transmission point for offshore wind energy.
