Magnificent natural route for cycling and hiking with almost no vehicle traffic.

Accelerating on the seemingly endless dike cycle paths with a view of the water or the tidal flats on one side or the peacefully grazing sheep on the other has an extremely decelerating effect. 😍

The "dyke defense roads" on the inside of the dyke are usually paved super smooth. It almost goes by itself. Unless you have a headwind 😄

Between the old dike, which runs a few hundred meters inland, and the current dike line, west of Hilgenriedersiel, are the Mandepolder and the Lütetsburger Polder. Both polders were first diked in 1679, a few years later and then again in 1717, the "Blanke Hans" however, the area back. The dike in both polders was not completed until 1772. The polders are used for agriculture. In recent years, a larger area has been set up near Hilgenriedersiel as a landing and transmission point for offshore wind energy.

    Easy to ride by bike.
Relaxing for the eye. Lots of green and at the end of the sea. More continuity than variety.
