Monastery Trail

At a signpost, the monastery path points up to the summit. At the next crossroads, the monastery path turns into the St. Michels circular path. Here a memorial stone indicates a "prehistoric settlement of the inner ring wall". A little further on, the path reveals the "Thingstätte", a monument to the recent past. The path circles the summit counter-clockwise and leads to the gate of the fenced summit. The wheelchair pilgrim comes to the entrance, then wide steps have to be negotiated. There is the floor plan of a Roman temple of Mercury in a Christian monastery to discover. Traces of Celts, Romans and Christians on the holy mountain.
