Picturesque Buren is tucked away on the Korte, a tributary of the Linge. This fortified town has a rich history, in which an important role is reserved for the Oranges. Not only did William of Orange marry Anna van Egmont there in 1551, but today King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima are still count and countess van Buren.

In Buren they still have a witch scale.... It's near the ice-cream parlor.

Very nice place. About half of the route also an excellent stopping place for something to eat and drink. Unfortunately with Corona it was not possible this time.

Yes, Buren is a nice place. But the walk was a torment. Only walk along busy roads, on narrow cycle paths, one after the other. Almost all the time you had to walk on asphalt, there was hardly a tree in sight, but because of the busy roads you didn't hear any birds. It took more than an hour to get out of Geldermalsen, through boring residential areas and along the Randweg. Definitely not recommended. Whoever has described this does not know what walking is.
