In 1966 the first labor migrants from Turkey (mostly from the Amasya province) came to Lohne. It was stopped by peat factories. Their wives also took part in the heavy physical labor in the Lohner moors. Most of the people of Turkish origin who now live in Lohne are descended from these “pioneers” and their relatives who have traveled afterwards. [18] To honor the migrant workers who were deployed in the moors in the east of Lohnes from 1966 onwards, the bronze sculpture "Two Moor Workers" by Bernd Maro was set up in the Lohner City Park in 2020.

A beautiful representation (built in 2019/2020) that was worked out in great detail.
Adjacent is the Lohner Bürgerpark with a very well-kept area and plenty of seating that invite you to take a long break.
But the open-air stage and the water mill can also be reached in a few minutes.

The sculpture honors the willingness of Turkish migrant workers, but also female migrant workers, to do hard physical labor in the moors in eastern Lohne since the 1960s
