The name of the Hellerpad is derived from the "Heller", the pastures between the summer dike and the sea dike near Dornumersiel. The salt marshes in front of the summer dike, however, owe the most impressive natural experiences on the round trip. They naturally form the transition from the tidal flats to the land on the Wadden Sea coast.
