Kastro is a small village in the interior of the Greek island of Thassos. It is believed to be the oldest village on the island. The village name comes from the old castle that existed here to protect the inhabitants. The village is located in the centre of the island, at a height of 450–500 m above sea level.

In the interior of Thassos you will come across several mountain villages. Perhaps the most interesting and certainly the oldest of them is Kastro, which you will find above the resort of Limenaria (about 12 kilometers of driving on a wide and decent asphalt road). The village lies at an altitude of almost 500 meters above sea level. The village is almost completely deserted - only two families currently live here. One of them runs a tavern, so you can also get some refreshments here.
