Wonderful trail. Slowly ascending on a double trail around Montagna Blanka... Trough well serviced single trail zigzaging up... then a short lava rock scramble... and voila you made it to the Refugio Altavista. Wow the views are unbelievable all along the trail. The lava eggs "Teide eggs" spewed so far from the crater are unique. The escape above the clouds and watching them chasing you...priceles.

Once at the Refugio you can stopp and relax enjoying the views or you can go up and down the Mt. Teide.

The Permits are very important, since you have to request them in advance.

If you stay overnight at the Refugio - the permit is automatic for the day of check out, but Prior reservation is needed as well.

The last bit before the Refugio Altavista. The path is steep, but easy to walk on. However, you should watch out for the rough and sharp-edged rock. Some stones are loose. You should be sure-footed after all. Anyone who is on top of the Refugio should check their water reserves. Here in the machine the only way would be to fill them up.
