The massive, fortified choir tower was built in the 13th century in late Romanesque style and has a baroque spire from 1750. The square nave was built in 1775. The church characterizes the townscape and is a Hessian cultural monument. The walled cemetery was fortified and is said to have had four round towers with loopholes. The covered gatehouse from the late Gothic period has been preserved.
