The Oberer Knappensee has an area of 36 hectares and was created in the 1970s and 1980s as a result of intensive brown coal mining. It is northeast of Hungen-Utphe. The lake is surrounded by a circular path. This trail allows you to circle the lake by jogging, hiking or cycling. Many benches distributed along the way also invite you to linger.
