Fischbek Glider Airfield in Fischbeker Heide

Always a very special atmosphere there. Heide plus contemplative glider airfield with runways, where you can go for a walk outside of the flight.

This is where the gliders of the Fischbek Gliding Club are catapulted into the sky. It's fun to watch! But you should be careful, as the gliders are very quiet.
On clear days, you have a wonderful view to the north: you can see the Elbe Valley (Hamburg-Blankenese) and as far as Schleswig-Holstein.
Just east of the site is the Fischbeck Valley and the Fischbek Heath with the legendary Heidschnucken long-distance hiking trail. Have fun!

Apart from the fact that gliding is exciting in itself, the open airfield is located on a hill on the heath. The view from there is simply stunningly beautiful.
The open terrain saved me once when I forgot to save my planned tour offline and lost my connection in one of the heath valleys. Up at the edge of the airfield, I was able to correct the error, download the tour, and continue the planned hike instead of returning remorsefully to Neugraben.
