Here the gliders of Segelflugclub Fischbek are catapulted to the sky. Watching is fun! However, caution is advised, the sailors are quite noiseless.
On clear days you have a wonderful view to the north: You can see the Elbe Valley (Hamburg-Blankenese) and Schleswig-Holsten.
By the way, just east of the site is the Fischbeck Valley and the Fischbeker Heide with the legendary Heidschnucken long-distance hiking trail.
    Have fun!

Always a very special atmosphere there. Heide plus contemplative glider airfield with runways, where you can go for a walk outside of the flight.

If there is no air traffic, you can walk on the runways. Drumrum Heide - a very special atmosphere!

They always come down, in this case very elegant, and you can watch too. Tip: picnic!

It is the blast, but with good visibility you can actually see the Elbe and the islands Neßsand and Schweinesand with some enlargement, as well as the Sietas shipyard in Neuenfelde and parts of Airbus.
Are so about 20 km, which you can overlook there, where you can then imagine, with some imagination, the gigantic delta, in which the Elbe ended after the Ice Age

Very nice. Before you can go and pick blueberries (June / July) and enjoy them here ...

Apart from the fact that the gliding operation is already exciting in itself, the open airfield is located on a hill of the heath. The sight from there is just beautiful.
I was saved by the open terrain once, when I forgot to save my planned tour offline and lost the connection in one of the heath valleys. Up on the edge of the airfield, I was able to iron out the mistake, download the tour, and continue the planned hike instead of returning to Neugraben ruefully.

Up and down it goes on the Heidschnuckenweg through the Fischbeker Heide until we then meet on this hill on the Segelfluggelände.

The oil timer with which the planes are pulled into the air alone is worth a look.
