Hiking Highlight
When the broom heath flowers from mid-August to early September, gigantic purple carpets spread across Hamburg's third-largest nature reserve, the Fischbeker Heide, giving the landscape a grand character. A walk in this season is a special experience for the eyes and ears, because unlike his bigger sister, the Lüneburg Heath, the Hamburg protected area is nowhere near overcrowded. And who brings the right leisure, is rewarded by the discovery of an immense species-rich flora and fauna.

There is also a glider field on the site of the former military training area. There would be a break here so that you can see the sailors at the start.

The Wulmstorfer Heide hiking tour leads through two heathland landscapes: through the Fischbeker Heide nature reserve and the former training area in the Wulmstorfer Heide.
Here you can still see some traces of military use.
But what used to be a Bundeswehr training area is now a recreational area for people and nature.
You will experience a varied landscape of heathland, sandy grasslands, wet biotopes and natural deciduous forests.(Source: regionalpark-rosengarten.de)
