Karst is a geomorphological type of landscape that is characterized by soluble and water-controlled processes of solution weathering. The dissolving power of water creates surface shapes of different sizes and shapes. The Nenniger Karst is an example of the "covered karst", as the dissolvable limestone from the time of the Upper Muschelkalk is covered by clay and old Moselle deposits.
