The Elbow is the northernmost part of the North Frisian island of Sylt, which belongs to Schleswig-Holstein. The northernmost state office in Germany is also located here.
The elbow is the northernmost part of Sylt north of List, the northernmost town in Germany. It juts out into the North Sea as a 330 to 1200 meter (m) wide and elongated peninsula. Almost 4 km northeast of the Elbow is the Danish neighboring island of Rømø, beyond Lister Tief.
The northernmost point of the peninsula, which is located on the west elbow northeast of the List West lighthouse, represents the northernmost part of Germany.
