The small town of Wolfratshausen is famous for the history of its raft trip. Since the 12th century, building materials have been transported to Munich on large rafts across the Loisach and Isar rivers. You can still take a leisurely raft from there to Munich today. The Japanese garden, a gift from the twin town Iruma, is unique to the area.

Wolfratshausen has some churches and chapels, some of which are hidden away. There is a church path that you can follow, information about this is available in the community center. The path ultimately also leads up the mountain forest with beautiful views over the city to the Alps. The connection between Wolfratshausen and the world of writers is also interesting. Both Hans Carossa and Oskar Maria Graf, who lived near Wolfratshausen, mentioned the city in their works. Ernst Wiechert, who was a citizen of the city for a while, wrote his most important works here and buried them in the garden, hiding them from the Nazis.
