The location of the tomb was originally in the Laudon Gardens, but today it is an inconspicuous place in the forest on the other (northeast) side of Mauerbachstraße. The tomb is empty, Laudon is buried elsewhere in the castle park, the exact place is unknown.

Hiking

Gideon Laudon was an officer of Russian-Scottish origin who was refused entry into the Prussian army. In Vienna he embarked on a successful military career and was even promoted to baron in 1759. Hadersdorf Castle was his old age residence and the city hiking trail leads through the associated "Turkish Garden". The classical grave temple is his final resting place, on the steps of which a life-size, armored warrior sits leaning with the expression of pain.
