Medio Campidano is a province, now repealed, of the Italian region of Sardinia. It borders to the north with the province of Oristano, to the east with the province of Cagliari, to the south with the territory of Iglesias (province of Cagliari) and to the west with the sea of Sardinia.
The province, active from 2005 to 2016, had a double capital: Villacidro and Sanluri.
In addition to agriculture and pastoralism, mining activities related to the extraction of copper, silver in antiquity and lead and zinc, more recently, were important. Today most of those structures, no longer operational, have been transformed into areas of industrial archeology or destined for tourism.
It is an area rich in important archaeological sites (nuraghes, domus de janas, "Giants' graves"...), among which the nuragic village of Barumini stands out. It has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
