Elbuferstraße Cycle Path

One of the most beautiful bike routes along the Elbe in terms of landscape and road surface. Always nice to drive this route to Laßrönne.

From the Elbuferstraße, which runs along the Elbe dike, you have a beautiful view of the Elbe. However, I find the cycle path anything but safe and therefore poorly planned.

The cycle path runs right next to the road and is not separated from it. There is only a narrow strip in between, which is delimited by two white lines and guide posts 100 meters apart. Unfortunately, many drivers also use this narrow strip to park, even though it is narrower than a car and the cars therefore protrude over the bike path. Dangerous situations often arise here because parked drivers often open their doors without paying attention to cyclists. Some people also park in the middle of the bike path. The last time I cycled there for a long time, for example, motorcyclists had parked in the middle of the bike path and there were still cars to the left of them. As a cyclist you have to move far out onto the road, which in turn can lead to very dangerous situations.
In my opinion, such a concept is complete nonsense. Cycle paths should be separated from the road, clearly and at a sufficient distance, especially on busy roads and cycle paths, such as the Elbuferstrasse and the Elbe Cycle Path, the busiest long-distance cycle path in Germany.
And by the way, as a cyclist, I don't want to breathe in the exhaust fumes from all the cars that pass very close to me.

Seldom in this region does a cycle path lead so directly and elevated along the Elbe without a "disturbing" dike in between that blocks the view. Here you can cycle relaxed on the smooth bike path and enjoy great views.
