All the water from the 915 hectare lake Filsø flows over the river Henne Mølleå. This river also has the important function of determining the water depth of the lake. This is regulated automatically by stone and gravel banks that have been set up a little further up the river. The fact that the river Henne Mølleå flows directly into the sea shouldn't be anything special, but the fact is that this is the only river from the Limfjord to the Wadden Sea that flows directly into the sea. In the 19th century the river was straightened in many places in order to drain the soil in the area of Filsø and thus to create more agriculturally usable soil. At the same time, it was easier for the farmers to cultivate the land right up to the river. The watermill on the Henne Mølleå river is no longer standing, but in its prime it operated 214 farms and 81 farms. The mill is said to have been built around 1140 and is therefore the oldest mill in Denmark. The farm here by the way across the river was built in 1912 after the water mill burned down for the second time. The administrator should live in the house and there should be a meeting room and room for the shareholders. Today the farm is owned by the previous owners of Filsø Gods.

The Henne Mølle Å (stream by the mill in Henne) is located south of Henne Strand and is subject to seasonal changes. Wind and weather are constantly changing the area around Henne Mølle Å, so that the peaceful little river can quickly turn into a raging river 🏞.

The Henne Mølle Å comes from Filsø and winds its way to the sea.
Two bridges lead over Henne Mølle Å before it disappears into the sea. The one bridge at Henne Mølle Badehotel was renovated just a few years ago, so that it can withstand today's weather fluctuations and changes in Henne Mølle Å.
However, Henne Mølle Å has not always been as it is now, because from the bridge on Porsmosevej to Filsø, the river was converted into a canal at an early stage so that the water could be used better. Today there is speculation as to whether the river should be returned to its original riverbed - to the benefit of flora and fauna.
