Langenselbold Castle was built under the Counts of Isenburg-Birstein in Langenselbold between 1722 and 1753. The Baroque complex consists of six individual buildings, some of which are grouped in pairs around the four sides of a large, green courtyard.
The castle comprises two identical main wings, constructed from the rubble of the former monastery buildings that once stood on the same site. The actual castle building, which is used by the city administration, contains the "Stucksaal" (Stucco Hall), the Napoleon Room, and the Prince's Chambers.
