The 12-hectare park in the east of Kempten was created by recultivating a gravel pit and is traversed by the Bachtelbach.
According to the plans of the landscape architect Peter Kluska in 1981, a park with stroller-friendly paths, sunbathing lawns, a 6000 m² pond, wet biotope, two children's adventure playgrounds, Kneipp facilities, outdoor climbing wall, open-air stage and a kiosk with a bar were created.
The Jakobus pilgrimage route also leads through the Engelhaldepark.
Officially opened June 24, 1989.
