The castle was transferred to the archiepiscopal and Braunschweig jurisdiction by SIGISMUND VON BRANDENBURG (1538-1566), Archbishop of Magdeburg and administrator Councilor Dr. HEINRICH VON BILA (1535-1584). This happened against the will of the sovereign, the Counts of Stolberg. The new owner then not only had the castle expanded into a stately property, where in 1573 14 men lived with their commander ( probably with their families). Castle not unscathed.
