The Aprica Pass is one of the most important Alpine passes in all of Italy, it is a very important destination for cycling, as it has been stage finishers several times in many memorable races at the Giro d'Italia.

The Aprica Pass is certainly not a giant among the Alpine passes, but it was at least part of the Giro d'Italia. On the eastern approach from Edolo described here, you overcome not quite 500 meters in altitude over about 15 kilometers with very pleasant gradients. A perfectly doable task. The driveway itself is relatively unspectacular. However, the surrounding mountains are very impressive and in the numerous curves you keep looking back towards Edolo with the mighty Adamello massif in the background. On the way to the top of the pass, you will pass a number of small villages with ample opportunities to stop off for a bit.

The place Aprica then stands in abrupt contrast to the idyllic driveway - it is a real fairground.
