    Eibau Factorial Farm
The start of construction work on today's factor farm dates back to 1717. The first building to be built was today's servants' quarters. It is assumed that the builder (Johann?) was called Gottlob Schäfer. Wauer suspects that it could have been a son-in-law of the linen dealer Zentsch. Perhaps Schäfer was just the master builder who managed the construction as a contractor. Christian Zentsch from Eibau, "who was still peddling carp in the villages around 1695 and later ran the linen trade," lived in this magnificently furnished trading house from 1724. As early as 1710 he estimated his wealth at 40,000 thalers.

The monogram on the keystone of the richly decorated arched portal consists of the letters G and S and also shows an anchor. This anchor could be an indication that the client conducted overseas trade (but probably only as far as England, d. V). The Delft motifs in the richly painted main room on the upper floor are also a reference to the existing trade connections abroad.
House No. 252 is built in a post-frame construction, a type of construction typical of Upper Lusatia, which is particularly well developed in Eibau. The building shows significant advances and improvements compared to the other buildings built at the beginning of the 18th century, which were otherwise only used in castle architecture.
Many similarities point to this, e.g. B. the large hallway, the main rooms on the upper floor with their furnishings and paintings. "According to the principles of castle architecture at the time...the upper floor...was given preference over the ground floor. In France, the "gallery" also came into fashion, i.e. the long, narrow hall where works of art were originally hung Such galleries were also planned in Germany in 1700. The staircases here were particularly fond of being richly decorated or powerfully designed. And the French masters initially required two large anterooms adjacent to the staircase, the second of which was also (at least in Germany ) was the large banquet hall. At No. 252, the greatest possible splendor is mainly displayed on the upper floor.

Unfortunately, the café was closed due to a "private event". The staff at the tourist information office were very friendly and helpful... for example, they were able to get the missing summit stamps for our hiking pass
