The lighthouse can only be viewed from a distance. Nevertheless, it is worth a (outside) visit.

The lighthouse on the western cape of Goeree-Overflakkee replaced in 1948 a lighthouse from 1912 that was blown up on the last day of the Second World War (May 4, 1945, after Erfgoedhuis Zuid-Holland).
The brick tower has a square plan and is 56 meters high including the beacon. Right from the start, it has an electric light source that provides orientation for shipping traffic between the Meuse and Scheldt estuaries.

The Vuurtoren Westhoofd stands in the dunes at Groenedijk in Ouddorp. The square brick tower was built between 1947 and 1950 and has a height of 56 meters. The tower is occupied and not accessible to the public. On the island Goeree there was already in 1862 a cast-iron tower. In 1911, the lighthouse was replaced by a reinforced concrete tower. On 5 May 1945, the Germans destroyed the lighthouse made of reinforced concrete. The light characteristic is three glares per 15 seconds. The light has a light intensity of 5,200,000 candela and a visibility of 30 nautical miles.
