Until 1930 the Hohe Brücke consisted mainly of wood, after which it was replaced by a concrete bridge in 1953 giving way to a modern train or bascule bridge. It was christened "Oswald Dittrich Bridge" on July 3, 1953 in the presence of the Schleswig-Holstein Prime Minister Friedrich Wilhelm Lübke and numerous other representatives of the state ministries as well as high personalities from the Pinneberg district and the city of Uetersen. It was named after the then General Director of Norddeutsche Papierwerke, Oswald Dittrich, the actual creator of the entire plant
