Going up in the Lieth city park: here is Elmshorn's highest peak, the Butterberg. At 21.70 meters above sea level, the man-made hill is the most popular toboggan run in the city. The city forest was created in 1903 at the suggestion of Matthias Kruse, the city councilor. The new waterworks near the Liether dunes had been completed last year. In order to prevent future erosion, Kruse proposed reforestation of the site. His plan met with great approval and was implemented in the spring of 1903. Butterberg and the pond complex should only be built later.elmshorn.de/Kultur-Freizeit-Tourismus/Tourismus/Sehenswertes-in-Elmshorn/Liether-Wald-und-Butterberg
