The place Pont á Mousson got its name from the built in the 9th century Moselle bridge of Mousson. The place was bombed because of its location in the First as well as during World War II. Despite everything, many of the historic buildings have been preserved.

Pont-à-Mousson (German obsolete also Mussenbrück) is a French commune in the department of Meurthe -et-Moselle in the region of Grand Est (until 2015 Lorraine). It belongs to the Arrondissement Nancy, is the capital of the canton of Pont-à-Mousson and the seat of the community association Bassin de Pont-à-Mousson. The inhabitants of the city are called Mussipontains in French.
