Few people know that Levi Strauss, the inventor of the world-famous Levi’s jeans, was born as Löb Strauss in Buttenheim in 1829 and lived here until his family emigrated to America. In his lovingly restored birthplace, the life story of Levi Strauss and the development and success story of jeans are explained in an appealing way. With the aid of exhibits, audio images, installations and films, the visitor learns everything about denim, its blue color and the obligatory rivets.
