Usually very nice, the pond. Unfortunately, the drought hit here too.

The Senne is characterized by sandy soil that reaches down to a depth of 60 m. The typical landscape shows heathland, moorland and forests. The heath once covered the entire Senne. Passing larks, birches, beeches and pines, the path takes you through various nature reserves with different types of vegetation. The Benteiche were created by excavating clay, which was needed for the production of roof tiles. The path leads past the high moor, where the cotton grass gives hikers a friendly nod in summer. The view from the Sennerandweg / Lönspfad during a rest at the "Senneblick" refuge from the Augustdorf local history association leads to the south and southwest into the Senne ("Sinedi" = old heathland). The Lippische Senne extends in the northeast to the former Prussian-Lippe border river "Menkhauser Bach", in the east it is closed by the Fürstenallee between Kreuzkrug and Schlangen. In the distance you can see the "Mouse Tower", also known as the "Haustenbecker Tower", the still existing tallest building in the Senne.Source: Teutonic Navigator
