The festival and spa town of Bad Hersfeld is the district town of the district of Hersfeld-Rotenburg in north-east Hesse. Bad Hersfeld is known nationwide for the annual Bad Hersfeld Festival since 1951 in the monastery ruins. Germany's oldest folk festival, the Lullusfest, also takes place here every year.

Are you interested in half-timbered buildings? Then you are right here in Bad Hersfeld. In the old town there are 216 listed buildings. For example, the church square has a closed half-timbered building, including the former sexton house. the oldest half-timbered house in the city, dating back to 1452. In the immediate vicinity is also the town hall, which was built in 1371 in Gothic style and from 1607 to 1612 in the style of the Weser Renaissance expanded and redesigned.
