The church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary (solemnity August 15) in Tuntenhausen was first mentioned in writing around the year 1000. It first belonged to the monastery of Tegernsee, later to the diocese of Freising, whose bishop transferred it to the Augustinian monastery of Beyharting in 1221.
