The "Rother Kopf" is a former volcano. Here you have a beautiful all-round view of the surrounding area. Right next to it is a quarry where you can take an interesting look from up there.

Here Vulcanus, in the Roman religion the god of fire (also the fire from volcanoes!), the blacksmith and all professional groups that depend on fire for the processing of metals, such as coin minters and bronze casters, became a monument in the form of a throne built.
If you want, you can take a seat here and enjoy the wonderful view.

The "Rother Kopf" is a typical basaltic Eifel volcano. The porous, slagy basalt from the "Rother Kopf" was a sought-after raw material for the manufacture of millstones from Roman times until the 19th century. From up here you can enjoy a magnificent view over the heights of the Vulkaneifel
