The small town in southern Barnim has been destroyed several times over the centuries; nevertheless, a remarkable old town center remained, which has been refurbished in recent years. Immediately at the market is the town hall (built in 1897 as a horse substation) and a great coffee shop invites you to linger. On the way to the monumental church of St. Michael you will pass the Alte Schmiede and a display board will inform you that you are on the Jakobsweg.
