From the mid-1980s, Platzspitz gained notoriety as "Needle Park". The open drug scene made it impossible to use Platzspitz as a recreational facility. After the park was closed in February 1992 and extensive renovation and partial redesign, Platzspitz was reopened to the public during the day in the summer of 1993, although it still has to be closed at night.

The Platzspitz, officially the Platzpromenade, is a park in the heart of Zurich with a varied history. The presence of drug addicts from all over Central Europe, which was tolerated by the authorities from the mid-1980s to 1992, attracted worldwide media attention.

The times from the 80s are over, the park is very nicely prepared and it is fun to be here.
