The Tüschenbroich oil mill is located on the castle pond of the imposing Tüschenbroich Castle, which was first mentioned in 1172.
The undershot water wheel and the pan mill are still there.

        History and description
The Tüschenbroich oil mill is a mill belonging to Tüschenbroich Castle, which was built in the 14th/15th century at the latest, but probably only after the Tüschenbroich grain mill.
The current mill complex consists of a three-winged courtyard complex in half-timbered and brick construction, built around the middle of the 18th century. The mill building is a two-storey half-timbered building with brick panels. The mill wheel is attached to the north-west facing gable side, the panels of which are now glazed. The mill building has a thatched roof, which was renewed in the 1990s. The mill wheel, which was destroyed in the war, was also restored.
The water mill with an undershot mill wheel receives its water power from the pond to the west, which in turn is fed by the abundant streams around Tüschenbroich. As a rule, the water from the streams of the quarry area was dammed up all night long in order to be able to drive the mill wheel for two hours during the day. A special feature of the oil mill is the drive for the pan mill, the shaft of which runs at ceiling height.
The oil mill ceased operations in 1912 due to the decline in flax cultivation and is now used as a studio.
