The Karwendelhaus (1,765 meters above sea level) is a well-equipped refuge near the Hochalm saddle in the Karwendel. It almost merges visually with the rocks.
In 1908 it was opened after five years of construction. No wonder that it took so long, 4,000 cubic meters of rock had to be eliminated with pimples and dynamite. But the effort of the pioneers was worthwhile.
Due to its central location, the alpine refuge, which has meanwhile been awarded the environmental seal of quality and is also well equipped, is an important base for multi-day rappelling tours. It is also a popular destination for mountain bikers. In the more than 100 years old, cozy lounge, they all meet together. Known mountains all around: Birkkarspitze, Western Karwendelspitze, Ödkarspitzen, Great Seekarspitze, Vogelkarspitze, Kuhkopf.

Quaint and very nice mountain hut in an exposed location. Old spacious dining room with very good food.
The whole house itself is really an experience, everything is made of wood, everything creaks and in general there is a very alpine romantic mood.
Dry rooms are also available.
