The Knippertzmühle was already a Wickrath fiefdom in 1223. It was demolished 700 years later. It was named Knippertzmühle after the owners of the last 200 years. The Knippertzbach, which rises in Rheindahlen, flows into the Schwalm between Rickelrath and Lüttelforst, after it has previously merged with the Hellbach.
